He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We’re looking for a Principal Planner or Principal Specialist to join our Resource Management team in the Healthy Waters department. You will have the opportunity to be a technical leader and achieve great outcomes.

You will lead our policy planning area, providing expert evidence and specialist input into Auckland Unitary Plan Changes and Spatial Plans. You can also gain a wide range of experience acquiring and implementing infrastructure consents, undertaking mana whenua engagement, and providing guidance and advice on a range of projects and initiatives.

You will have strong verbal and written communication skills. A natural collaborator, we will value your strong relationship building and engagement skills as you’ll be working with wider internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive strategic outcomes. And you will enjoy working in a highly engaged and a high performance orientated team.


Preferably you will have experience engaging with Iwi and have an interest in working with our Mana Whenua partners to promote Te Mauri o te Wai, the integrated and holistic well-being of Water. Good knowledge and experience in stormwater management and resource management planning would be valuable. As this role may require you to occasionally travel around the region using Council vehicles, you’ll also have a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
