He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Licensing and Compliance department is looking for four Compliance Wardens to join our Community Safety team on a fixed-term basis.

If you enjoy being out and about, working with people and finding practical ways to resolve issues, this could be the opportunity for you.

As a Compliance Warden, you’ll play an important role in supporting public safety across Auckland. You’ll work directly with residents, businesses and community groups to understand concerns, provide advice and take action where needed. The focus is on early intervention and education, helping people understand their responsibilities and resolve issues before they become bigger problems.

 

You could expect to work on:

  • Monitoring community issues and identifying potential risks to public safety and wellbeing. 
  • Visiting sites and engaging directly with residents, businesses and community groups. 
  • Providing guidance on council requirements and supporting people to meet their obligations. 
  • Assessing situations and taking appropriate action, including escalating matters where required. 
  • Working with Police, business associations, community patrols and other agencies to address local concerns.

 


He kōrero mōu: About you

You’ll bring experience from a compliance, security, regulatory or similar environment and be comfortable working with people from different backgrounds and in a range of situations.

 

We will be looking for:

  • 1–2 years’ experience in compliance, security or a related role.
  • Experience working with legislation, policies, procedures or regulatory requirements. 
  • Experience assessing situations, identifying risks and determining appropriate action. 
  • NCEA Level 3. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • A current and relevant New Zealand driver licence. 

 

You don’t need to know everything about local government compliance from day one. Training and support will be provided to help you build your knowledge of council legislation, bylaws and compliance processes.

This role has a remuneration range of $67,414 - $79,310 per annum plus shift and on-call allowances. 
Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
