He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
The Privacy & Official Information team within Customer Experience plays an important role in helping Auckland Council meet its obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).

 

As a Privacy and Official Information Business Partner, you’ll work across the organisation to manage complex and sensitive information requests, provide trusted advice, and support our people to confidently navigate privacy and official information requirements.

 

This is a varied role where you’ll build strong relationships with colleagues, decision-makers, executives and the Mayoral Office. You’ll use sound judgement, political awareness and a customer-focused approach to ensure information requests are managed accurately, appropriately and within statutory timeframes.

 

In this role, you will:
•    Manage a portfolio of departments, overseeing official information requests within these areas.
•    Ensure high-quality, accurate, and authorised responses to information requests, aligned with statutory timeframes.
•    Provide expert advice and training on privacy and official information, ensuring our responses meet compliance standards.
•    Foster a culture of transparency and trust throughout the organization.

He kōrero mōu: About You
This customer-focused role requires a professional with a strong ability to build rapport and establish productive, results-driven relationships across the organization. Strong relationship management and business partnering skills are essential, as you will engage frequently with senior council leaders.

 

Ideally, you hold a tertiary qualification in business management, commerce, law, public policy, public management, humanities, or finance.

 

Ideally, you’ll bring:
•    A relevant tertiary qualification in an area such as business management, commerce, law, public policy, public management, humanities, or finance or equivalent relevant experience.
•    At least three years’ experience working in a large, complex organisation or sensitive environment.
•    Knowledge of the Privacy Act 2020 and LGOIMA.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex information clear and accessible.
•    Experience building relationships, improving processes and developing capability through mentoring or training.

Salary Range of $78 – $90K per annum based on skills and experience.
