He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Regional Parks unit has an opportunity for a full time Visitor Services Representatives to join our Arataki Visitor Centre team.
The Visitor Services Representative can expect to inform and assist our visitors in a friendly, customer focused and effective manner to ensure their experience in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park is safe and well informed. You will use your knowledge and passion for Auckland’s Regional Parks to foster a sense of kaitiakitanga of Te Wao Nui a Tiriwa.
The Arataki Visitor Centre is open 363 days of the year, apart from Christmas and Boxing Days, and as such this role is rostered to include a regular weekend day and public holidays.
Day-to-day you could expect to:
• Assist various visitors and groups with information on tracks and local experiences to maximise customer satisfaction
• Deliver kōrero on our Pou and carvings and manage self-guided school visits and tours
• Facilitate, support and sometimes deliver Arataki Visitor Centre workshops and events
• Assist with retail and merchandising
• Collaborate with our Iwi Partners, Te Kawerau ā Maki, to develop and maintain our commitment to Te Ao Māori.

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in similar customer-centric roles, with a sound understanding of Auckland’s Regional Parks, in particular the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
• At least 1 years’ experience in a customer service or retail role
• Outdoor tourism, recreation, conservation, teaching, and/or visitor centres
• Knowledge of Te Reo Māori
• Administration skills, including Microsoft Office (a bonus would be experience on Advanced Retail)
A current New Zealand Drivers Licence is preferred but not required.
Ability to work weekends on a regular roster is essential, the schedule for the roles is:
• Tuesday - Saturday
