He angitūtanga: The opportunity 


Arataki Visitor Centre is seeking a friendly and motivated Visitor Services Representative to create exceptional experiences for visitors in the stunning Waitākere Ranges, one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s favourite playgrounds. Your contributions will also help foster positive relationships with the local community.


This role involves a 5-day work week including weekends and public holidays as the Arataki Visitor Centre is a 364-day operation excluding Christmas day. The potential rostered shift is Sunday – Thursday.

 

You will primarily focus on delivering comprehensive information about Auckland Council Regional Parks, particularly the Waitākere Ranges.

 

What you can expect on a day-to-day basis:

 

  • Assisting visitors with bookings and track information (where to go and what to see) 
  • Deliver introductory and community talks on request
  • Facilitate and support with Arataki Visitor Centre events 
  • Assist with merchandising and providing excellent customer service to visitors at the retail store
  • Collaborate with our Iwi Partners to develop and maintain our commitment to Te Ao Māori

He kōrero mōu: About you
 
This role requires experience in similar customer-centric roles, with a sound understanding of Auckland’s Regional Parks, in particular the Waitakere Regional Park. Your background would include customer service which may have been gained in the Tourism, Hospitality, Events or other Service industries.

 

You’ll be a great team player, and will be able to demonstrate:

 

  • At least 1 years' experience in a customer service or retail based role
  • Experience with outdoor tourism, recreation, conservation and/or visitor centres
  • Administration skills including computer literacy: MS Office applications
  • Experience with Advanced Retail (highly desired)
  • A full, clean and valid New Zealand driver's licence (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Te Reo would be advantageous (highly desired)
