He angitûtanga: The opportunity
The Western Regional Parks encompass vast forests with magnificent Kauri to the black volcanic sand surf beaches synonymous with Auckland's west coast. The scenic landscape encapsulates everything New Zealand is world-renowned for including the Waitakere Ranges, Muriwai and Te Rau Puriri Regional Parks and are a mix of beaches, farmland, and forest.
This year we are seeking 8x Summer Rangers to take the lead, protecting and enhancing the environment and natural landscapes of Tamaki Makarau’s Western Regional Parks.
These positions will work full-time from 12th November 2025 – 11th February 2026 or 12th November – 11th March 2026. You will need to be available to attend a mandatory training camp from 17th November 2025 – 21st November 2025 at Waitawa Regional Park.
You would work on a roster that includes every weekend and public holiday over the summer period including Christmas and New Years Day.

Our Summer Park Rangers are a key part in facilitating safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences. The rangers will assist with bylaw control, maintenance of the parks across the network including maintaining bush, signage and arrival areas. Summer Rangers engage with the public daily providing their assistance and excellent customer service.
