He angitūtanga: The Opportunity
As a Senior Compliance Officer within the Compliance Response and Investigations Unit, you will provide experienced and high-quality compliance services, ensuring positive outcomes for Auckland. Your key responsibilities will include investigating breaches of the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and relevant bylaws, managing remediation activities, and taking enforcement action where necessary. You’ll work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve comprehensive compliance results. Your work will contribute directly to the smooth functioning of Auckland Council’s compliance systems.
This is a senior position where you’ll be expected to lead by example, mentor less experienced team members, and contribute to the development of the team’s work plans. You will also play an essential role in responding to more complex service requests that require an experienced and solution-focused approach. Flexibility for on-call work, including after-hours shifts, will also be part of the role.
He kōrero mōu: About You
You bring at least 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, investigations, or enforcement, preferably in government or regulatory settings. Your background in the Resource Management Act, Building Act, or related fields makes you an ideal fit for this role. You are highly skilled in investigations and have demonstrated experience in handling complex compliance matters effectively and efficiently.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and your negotiation and conflict resolution abilities are second to none. As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will be expected to guide and mentor your colleagues, providing support, advice, and coaching to ensure the team meets its objectives.
You will have a tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) in fields such as Risk/Compliance Management, Environmental Science, Building and Construction, Law, or similar. A current NZ Driver’s License is essential due to the fieldwork component of the role.

Salary ranges from $ 88,528 and $ 104,150 plus KiwiSaver and benefits.
