He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences in regional park settings, while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.The role is based at the Wenderholm Regional Park, but you will also work regularly throughout the Northern Sector parks network as required.

This is a permanent full-time position and requires working on a 40-hour week. You will be part of an on-call roster including being available some weekends and public holidays.

 

Day to day you will be expected to: 

  • Coordinate conservation work and engage with external stakeholders including iwi, visitors, and volunteers
  • Work closely with the other members of the Northern Parks team to manage and support volunteers in achieving conservation goals
  • Assist in planning and delivering formal and informal education programmes to promote environmental awareness and engagement
  • Be responsible for park asset maintenance, events, farm outcomes

The renumeration range for this role is $63k - $74k, depending on skillset and experience.

We are looking for a motivated, practical, customer focused individual, to join the Northern Sector ranger team, who can add value and contribute to a committed team. 

We are looking for a proactive and physically fit individual with a positive attitude and strong practical skills. You’ll have excellent communication and time management abilities and feel confident working independently across diverse projects. Experience engaging with community groups, volunteers, and Mana Whenua is essential.

 

We are looking for:

  • Parks and/or land management qualification(s) would be desirable along with other appropriate licenses to support public safety and environmental protection
  • A current and clean NZ driver's license
  • Experience with a range of tools and equipment
  • Confidence engaging with the public
