He angitūtanga: The opportunity
 
Community Facilities’ focus is on ensuring community assets (buildings and open spaces) are fit for the purpose of delivering outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders.

 

We are looking for a project manager in a permanent capacity to join our dynamic and passionate team. You will be leading teams comprising of council staff and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors to deliver assigned new capital works and renewals projects for the CF Department. This is through the application of best practice project management principles, techniques and systems and ensuring that projects comply with all council’s policies, frameworks and procedures.

 

You may also get the opportunity to work on complex projects under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • End to end management and delivery of assigned projects in accordance with Auckland Council policy, frameworks and procedures and industry best practice. 
  • Engaging with other teams during project inception to provide technical advice.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate project records, including a project execution plan, financial and timeline plans.
  • Managing project budgets well and ensuring projects follow predicted business case pathway. 
  • Managing consultants and contractors, and maintain effective relationships with business owners, customers and project stakeholders. 


He kōrero mōu: About you
 
Alongside a relevant degree or tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, construction or architecture), you’ll have 3+ years proven experience in capital works project delivery, including renewals projects. 

 

You’ll need to be able to listen and understand while also being able to think for yourself. You’ll have the ability to make decisions on the spot, be pragmatic with political nous and have strong collaboration skills. 

 

You are a strong communicator, with advanced stakeholder management skills with an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people, including contractors and customers.
