As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. 

To Help Auckland be a great place to live we are seeking a project estimator to help us deliver this outcome. As an Estimator with us you will be part of a successful and driven team estimating some interesting jobs. You will maintain contact with the Project Management team, keeping abreast of project performance and being part of our projects as we secure and deliver the desired outcomes.

These projects are focused on capital and renewal works including park development, playgrounds, walkways, sporting facilities, buildings etc (to name just a few). You’ll be responsible for pricing projects and developing strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, as well as maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders such as mana whenua and user groups.

You will provide support to the Project team in identifying project cost overruns or variances in actual vs projected margin along with preparation of associated documentation in delivering projects once won.


The role involves a considerable amount of time out in field with clients looking at asset renewals.



He kōrero mōu: About you

As a estimator you will deliver best practice in project delivery and pricing and be able to develop strong relationship with our clients to provide the desired outcomes.
Ideally you will have a background which encompasses construction, architecture, or landscaping disciplines.


You’ll be well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, being able to deal with ambiguity whilst making quality decisions in a dynamic, challenging environment, as well as understanding NZ building code an NZ Standards.

Alongside a collaborative nature and strong people skills, you’ll bring a clear customer service ethic and a sense of personal ownership and responsibility.

The ideal candidate will possess some of the following skills which will help meet the desired outcome for the role.
•    3+ years' experience as an Estimator pricing civil and or construction projects

•    Relevant tertiary qualification (desired)

•    Excellent communication skills - a personable team player
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
•    Comfortable reading and understanding of blueprints and drawings

You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel to various Community Facility sites across the Auckland region.
