He angitūtanga: The opportunity
An exceptional opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and enjoy an increased sense of job satisfaction and involvement by overseeing two library teams in the Henderson-Massey Local Board. In this position, you will be responsible for guiding our community-oriented staff with strategic people leadership, empowering and developing your team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
Your role is to lead both teams to build on community participation and engagement. Your collaborative approach and experience will drive the development of external partnerships and grow strong internal relationships. Your passion to succeed will deliver to two communities connecting across different cultures and build library and council services that create a sense of belonging.
- Facilitate and grow staff to be comfortable with decision making, autonomy and feel empowered
- mentoring, upskilling and coaching of existing staff
- inspire people to think and act differently to make good things happen
- Lead the development of programmes and events that enhance identity, connect people and build a sense of belonging
- Undertake facility management

You have the appetite as well as experience in not only building and uplifting a team, but creating a vibrant, strong, and positive culture across both sites. Staff empowerment and ability to grow a strong, capable and resilient team is essential.
You will have the proven ability to connect with and establish strong relationships with both community members and current & potential community groups Understanding the importance of relationships with the Henderson-Massey Local Board and the communities within this area is essential to the success of delivering targeted services.
Your leadership values the distinct Māori, Pasifika, Asian and other cultures that bring a richness and diversity to both these communities. You operate from a sensed understanding of Mana Atua, Mana Tangata, Mana Whenua and hold a deep value of and proficiency for manaakitanga (kindness and respect for others).

This permanent opportunity is working 40 hours per week on a variable schedule, currently based across two community libraries Te Kōpua - Henderson and Rānui and the Henderson-Massey Local Board.
