Job Title: Lead Lifeguard – West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre

 

Lead Lifeguard Opportunity

 

We have a Lead Lifeguard role available for West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre in Henderson. Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever, and as Lead Lifeguard for our Leisure Centres, you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one. 

 

This is a Permanent 32 hour position working the shifts below:

  • Sunday 5.30am - 2pm
  • Monday 5.05am - 1.35pm
  • Tuesday 8.30am -5:00pm
  • Wednesday 8.30am – 5:00pm

 

As our centre opens 7 days a week, the ability to work early and late shifts, as well as weekends, is crucial in this role.

 

 

 

Your main responsibilities will include: 

💧 Providing guidance on and supporting the delivery of aquatics-based programmes 

🛟 General lifeguarding duties to ensure customers are safe and looked after 

📋 Supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations at the Centre

It goes without saying that you’ll have a passion for aquatics, and you’ll enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with customers and colleagues to improve water safety. You will be an excellent communicator and committed to delivering exceptional aquatic programmes and providing a high level of customer satisfaction. 

Joining an energetic and passionate team, you’ll be a keen team player with a flexible approach and be able to take initiative to help drive a positive safety culture. 

The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test.  Please only apply for this position if you feel you can:

 

  • Swim 200m in under 6 minutes 
  • Swim 25m sidestroke
  • Swim 50m breaststroke
  • Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool 
  • Tread water for 5 minutes 

 

You’ll need to hold a current First Aid Certificate as well as a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate.
