He angitūtanga: The opportunity
West Wave is one of Auckland’s most premier aquatic facilities, and we’re looking for Aquatics Supervisors to lead our team in delivering safe, enjoyable, and engaging experiences for our community. In this role, you’ll work closely with and report to the Aquatics Team Leader, supporting the team to deliver safe, high-quality aquatic experiences for our community.
You will be responsible for, and not limited to:
- Oversee daily pool operations and assist with team rostering.
- Supervise and support lifeguards through training and development to uphold safety and service standards.
- Lead recruitment and selection in partnership with the Aquatics Team Leader.
- Drive operational improvements and enhance customer experience.
- Manage hazard plans, policies, and training to ensure ongoing compliance.
This is an on-site, permanent full-time position.
As the centre operates 7 days a week, reliability, and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts are crucial.

You’ll bring proven leadership and management experience within aquatic environments, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle complex situations calmly and professionally. A strong focus on the physical and mental well-being of your team is essential.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate and First Aid Certificate
- New Zealand-recognised qualifications in water treatment and hazardous substances
- At least 5+ years’ experience in aquatic operations
- Sound knowledge of pool plant operations and water treatment systems
Ideally, you’ll also hold a New Zealand Certificate in Aquatics (Level 4) or equivalent.
