He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The opportunity has arisen to work as a Library & Council Services Assistant in Mahurangi East Library. This will require you to be flexible as you may need to work from other sites within the Rodney local board area (Warkworth & Wellsford Libraries).
 
Mahurangi East Library is an active community library serving a fast-growing community. Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community, and our environment. We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library as well as building lasting and meaningful relationships with our customers.

 
Many of our libraries are open 7 days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends and late nights, is required. We are looking to fill a part time position working 24 hours per week. Shifts below:


Monday – Wednesday 8.30am-5.30pm

Rotating a Saturday every 4-6 weeks 8.45am-1.15pm

You will have strong people skills, a team player, flexible and adaptable to a library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude towards serving people of all ages and backgrounds. You are eager to learn new skills and enjoy planning and engaging in programmes and activities.

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Brings a can-do attitude – reliable, full of ideas, and ready to make things happen.
  • Is digitally confident and skilled in social media, adaptable to a variety programming systems.
  • Understands and uses technology creatively and with confidence, able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices.
  • Has a strong people focused, and empathy driven work ethic. Along with a positive attitude, pride in their work and in the ability to influence others positively.
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and fosters great relationships with the team and our community.
  • Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles.

 

The band for this role is Band E, we expect to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of from $65,000 – $70,000 depending on skillset and experience.
