We are excited to share with you an opportunity to join the Rodney North Local Board team, based at Te Whare Pukapuka o Wakapirau | Wellsford War Memorial Library as the Kaikōkiri Ratonga Māori (with Community Engagement focus)
Te Whare Pukapuka o Wakapirau seeks to respond to the call of whānau aspirations by creating an inclusive place of value and belonging, weaving te ao Māori through the three local board libraries. (Note: this role is based at Te Whare Pukapuka o Wakapirau and requires flexibility to work here as well as at the Warkworth and Mahurangi East Libraries).
This role is a bold attempt to indigenise how we create space, how we manage resources, how we build teams, how we listen, how we act, how we serve.
He angitutanga: The opportunity
You will advocate for Māori voice and be the subject matter expert for Māori knowledge and expertise collaborating with our Māori communities across Rodney North, with a focus on Wellsford and the surrounding district. You will plan and deliver programming in the three libraries and provide exceptional customer service. This will include educating customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues. This role will be undertaken with a community engagement lens, and you will be expected to go out into our communities, as well as spend time each fortnight onsite in the three libraries.

This is a permanent opportunity, working 38 hours per week. Our library is open six days a week and this role may include a weekend day.

We are expecting to appoint the successful applicant at a salary of between 75,000 to 84,000 per annum, depending upon experience.
