He angitūtanga: The opportunity

An opportunity has arisen to become part of the Waiheke Library team as a 22-hr Libraries & Council Service Assistant, for a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave from 2 October 2025 – 31 March 2026.

 

Shifts below:

  • Thursday (8:30AM – 5:30PM), Friday (8:30AM – 5:30PM), and Saturday (9:45AM – 4:15PM)

 

We are a focused and committed team who take pride in delivering excellence in customer experience. Our libraries and council service assistants play a vital role in contributing to digital literacy, community connection, and reading programmes with our tamariki and rangatahi.

 

We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, high energy, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library including the facilitation of some programmes. As this is a customer service role, you will be supporting customers from all walks of life with library and council services.

You will have excellent people skills, strong digital skills, and are flexible and adaptable to our learning library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude to serving people of all ages and backgrounds.  You are eager to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.

 

We are looking for a team member who:

  • Is positive, energetic, with a can-do attitude where no job is too big or small.
  • Understands and uses technology with confidence, able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices.
  • Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships with our community
  • Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people, including children and young people
  • Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills.
  • Has knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori or willingness to learn.

Salary range 57k - 65k (depending on skills and experience)
