He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Auckland Council’s Parks & Community Service department has opportunities for enthusiastic and customer focussed individuals to join our team, working at the stunning Waiheke Backpackers Hostel. These roles are permanent, fixed term or casual opportunities with full time or part time hours available. You would be working in an amazing location above Onetangi Beach, where you will support the team with the day-to-day operation of the backpackers.

 

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Customer service and front-of-house responsibilities
  • Managing guest bookings and registration
  • Payments, and cash handling
  • Responding to calls and emails
  • Housekeeping duties 

 

You’ll be working closely with an amazing collaborative team to ensure our guests’ have a positive and memorable experience with us.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, and customer focussed person to join our team. A friendly and helpful attitude, and the ability to act on your initiative is key.

 

We will be looking for following skills:

  • Computer literacy
  • Administrative/reception & cash handling experience 
  • Excellent communication & problem-solving skills
  • Good level of fitness, work ethic and sense of humour
  • Team player but can be autonomous

 

The backpackers is open 365 days a year, we are especially busy throughout the summer months, so having the ability to work flexible hours, weekends, public holidays, and additional shifts is required.
