Parks and Community Facilities is committed to making great places Aucklanders love while supporting several related services such as asset management, project delivery and operational contract delivery. 


Committed to a lifecycle approach to asset management, we work to build, maintain and renew our world class community buildings and public spaces including parks, walkways, libraries and leisure centres. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. 


As work programme lead you’ll work collaboratively to develop a prioritised rolling three-year capital work programme that delivers value for money and forges a world class city through collaboratively and transparently serving stakeholders (including local boards, council departments, and Auckland communities). 


Your role will include identifying projects that will deliver local boards strategic outcomes. You’ll complete early option analysis to support decisions and background information to support project delivery, and you’ll provide quality advice and information to local boards to support their decision making in the management of the asset portfolio, including appropriate budget sources and deliverable timeframes.

You’re able to logically navigate through complex problems and deliver under pressure, with exceptional skills in relationship management, critical thinking and financial acumen.


You’ll demonstrate excellent stakeholder engagement, working with project managers and have effective facilitation skills. Having worked in complex organisational environments, you’ll also be confident in asset planning, financial analysis and political report writing.  


Experience in asset management, physical works projects in buildings and open spaces and developing work programmes is also advantageous.

Please note this is an 18 month opportunity until June 2026


You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel to various Community Facility sites across the Auckland region.
