We have a 1x Permanent Full-Time opportunity for a Waste Recycler & Operator to join our Henderson team based at the Waitakere Resource Recovery Park.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team delivering essential services to Tāmaki Makaurau and our environment!
PLEASE NOTE: We are open 8am-6pm, Monday to Sunday.
You will be working 5 days per week, one of them must be a weekend day, as per agreement with your team leader. You will have the same shifts on a regular basis.

Auckland Council's Solid Waste unit manages 40% of the region's waste through the facility focusing on commercial refuse, curbside domestic refuse, recycling, hazardous and inorganic waste.
We are also responsible for the management of transfer stations, the development and delivery of waste minimization, and cleaner production initiatives. Being an essential service provider, we are always operating!

The remuneration rate for this role is $30 per hour depending on experience and skillset.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Transfer of waste to landfills
- Diverting reusable items and recycling materials from the waste stream
- Managing customers at the different drop-off areas
- Health and Safety - ensuring staff and customers are kept safe
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will understand that recycling counts, and really does make a difference to our environment and the future of Tāmaki Makaurau.
We will be looking for:
- A full NZ driver's license - Class 1 and 2 (mandatory)
- WTR (Wheels Trucks and Rollers) Endorsement & Fork Hoist/Lift certification
- Experience with heavy machinery and power tools preferred (Waste, construction, landscaping, or similar industries preferred)
- Physical fitness - a medical assessment may be required as part of the selection process
- Commitment to Health & Safety
An approved handler certificate, specifically in chemical handling, would be highly advantageous but not required.
