Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities. Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.
As a Lifeguard you are responsible for:
- Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers.
- Educate and enforce pool rules.
- Respond to any First Aid emergencies.
- Ensure pool and surrounds are clean at all times.

The Shifts:
We have 2 Full-Time Permanent
- Sunday to Thursday between the hours of 5.30 AM – 7.15 PM Roistered
- Tuesday to Sunday between the hours of 5.30 AM – 7.15 PM Roistered
W will provide ALL training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training as you will need to be PLPC Certified to work as a Lifeguard. For more information about the PLPC Certification please read here: PLPC
He kōrero mōu: About you
We are looking for people of ages that are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others and can commit to full-time work.
To become a lifeguard with Auckland Council as the first step you will need to be able to pass this test, please only apply for this position if you feel you can do this (or could do this with training).
- Swim 200m freestyle in less than 6 minutes
- Swim 50m any stroke
- Duck, dive and retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool (at 5m depth)
- Tread water for 5 minutes
