He angitūtanga: The opportunity Team Member - Recreation Assistant | Allan Brewster Leisure Centre Auckland Council’s Pools and Leisure has an opportunity for a Team Member - Recreation Assistant position at our busy Allan Brewster Leisure Centre. As a Recreation Assistant no two days will be the same! You’ll help us deliver an exciting range of community fitness and school holiday programmes, from skating to inline hockey, to boxing and more! In this frontline role, your responsibilities will include:
The shifts: 15 hours: Monday – Friday (2:30pm – 5:30 pm) Flexibility is required especially during the school holidays, the shifts are subject to change according to the roster and the needs of the centre, so flexibility is essential. Please note the ability to work on the weekend may arise as well.
He kōrero mōu: About you You’ll already be passionate about sports and recreation, and ready to step into a frontline customer service role. It goes without saying that you’ll be responsible when it comes to working with children. You’ll have a flexible approach and be able to use your initiative to facilitate suitable programmes for kids. An enthusiastic team player, you’ll have a positive attitude and infectious energy and be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience. Ideally, you’ll hold a current First Aid Certificate and have a good understanding of health and safety procedures. However, if not, training will be provided. Previous experience working with children is beneficial, and preferred. Importantly, you’ll be committed to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in your work. Previous experience in teaching, coaching, or gymnastics is a strong advantage for this role — especially if you’ve coached sports like basketball or netball or have experience as an umpire. You’ll need to feel confident managing groups of children during after-school activities. A full driver’s license is required, as school pick-ups and drop-offs are likely to be part of your responsibilities.
