He angitūtanga: The opportunity


Auckland Council’s Regulatory Engineering unit plays a critical role in ensuring land and housing development across the region is in line with local and national standards and achieving the right outcomes for our customers and our environment. As a Structural Engineer, you’ll provide sound structural and geotechnical advice to ensure we meet the needs of Aucklanders, as you provide quality assessments of building consent applications and ensure compliance with the Building Act and Building Code. Some of your responsibilities will include recording and advising on natural hazards, reviewing, and advising on submitted plans, liaising with customers regarding their applications, resolving any infrastructure issues and more.



He kōrero mōu: About you


You’ll hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering as a major and have a minimum three years of relevant structural/geotechnical engineering experience working with residential, commercial, and industrial designs. You’ll have sound knowledge of relevant New Zealand legislation, and experience in structural design peer reviews for compliance with the NZ Building Code will be an added advantage. You’ll also be someone who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and working with a range of external and internal stakeholders. You’ll be results driven, with a focus on providing a positive and supportive customer experience.


As this role requires occasional driving around the region using Council vehicles, you’ll also hold a valid driver’s license.
