Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is committed to making great places Aucklander’s love. Delivering a lifecycle approach to asset management, we work to build, maintain and renew our world class community buildings and public spaces including parks, walkways, libraries and leisure centres. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. 
 
To help make Auckland’s great places we have a Senior Project Manager opportunity, which will see you leading a variety of projects. You will champion and deliver specific complex projects to provide the Auckland public with high quality assets, improving open space and facilities. These projects are focused on capital and renewal works including park development, playgrounds, walkways, sporting facilities, buildings etc (to name just a few). You’ll be responsible for end-to-end project management and delivery, as well as maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders such as mana whenua, politicians, user groups, business owners and other customers.

 

Within your role, you’ll provide technical advice as you lead the delivery of project outputs and outcomes. You’ll ensure quality delivery through project planning, timely reporting, accurate financial control and effective risk management. You’ll also use your expertise to provide coaching and mentoring support to the Area Operations team.

 
He kōrero mōu: About you
 
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll have significant experience in successful capital works delivery (including renewals projects) from business case development and design, through to construction contract management and monitoring. You’ll have led multiple project teams and have been responsible for significant budgets in a relevant sector; construction, engineering, architecture or landscape.


You’ll be well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, being savvy to deal with ambiguity whilst making quality decisions in a dynamic, challenging environment. It goes without saying that you have the agility to work cross-functionally with other departments, as well as a passion for the health, safety, and wellbeing of those you work with.


Alongside a collaborative nature and solid relationship management skills, you’ll bring a clear customer service ethic, political nous and a sense of personal ownership and responsibility.

You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel to various Community Facility sites across the Auckland region.
