Ngā Pātaka Kōrero o Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland Libraries) have a strong community focus, and we are an extraordinary destination for the people of Auckland. Senior Libraries & Council Services Assistants play a vital part within our library team ensuring that our libraries within the Māngere - Ōtāhuhu Local Board, provide a world-class customer experience that is second to none.
 
A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the team as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant – based at Māngere Town Centre Library and Māngere Arts Centre.

 

This is a permanent part-time position of 32 hours per week. The role requires flexibility to work across libraries within the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board area. A 6-hr Saturday shift at the Māngere Arts Centre is required, while the remaining workdays are flexible.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:

 

  • Be the senior on site and have capability, capacity and confidence to lead when required
  • Leadership skills and ability to problem solve
  • A great sense of resilience and ability to navigate challenging situations
  • Work collaboratively with teams in the Local Board, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise
  • Build a strong partner and relationship skills
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats
  • Flexibility and collaboration across all aspects of your mahi
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori and a willingness to learn
