He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
As part of the Compliance Response and Investigations Unit, your typical day would involve completing site visits, identifying and investigating breach of regulations which you will be required to resolve through appropriate methods of enforcement or education to achieve sustainable outcomes and meet customer service delivery standards, in accordance with the relevant statutory documents, the Resource Management Act, Building Act and other relevant legislation.

 
You may also be required to be part of an on-call roster and need to be available to work after hours when required.

You demonstrate strong customer service experience, maturity, excellent communication skills, and confidence to resolve queries and potential conflicts.  Your exceptional interpersonal skills, confident approach with customers, and your outstanding conflict resolution techniques will therefore be key to your ongoing success in this role. You will also be skilled at coaching others and prepared to help resolve difficult or escalated matters. The willingness to help guide the team and act in a leadership capacity is desirable.

 
A tertiary qualification or able to demonstrate equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Building, or similar and at least 5 years’ experience in investigative/compliance roles within the council or with regulatory organisations such as with Police, Customs, Fisheries, or similar fields.

Salary ranges from $85,000 and $100,000 plus KiwiSaver and benefits.

You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel across the Auckland region.
