As a seasonal lifeguard, your job is to help everyone stay safe and have fun at our pools by keeping a close eye on things and following health and safety rules.
Your key responsibilities:
• Keep the pool area safe through active supervision and friendly interactions
• Promote and enforce pool rules in a positive way
• Respond quickly and calmly to any First Aid emergencies
We have a 20-hour fixed-term opportunities working Thursdays to Satursdays during our busy summer period from Dec 2025 until February or March 2026 at our Totara Park Pool.
You must be available working throught the holiday period.
The ability to work early morning, late night, and weekend are vital. Flexibility, reliability and a commitment to working early, late, and weekend shifts are essential.
He kōrero mōu: About you
To get started, you’ll need to feel confident in the water and pass a swim test. Here’s what you’ll need to be able to do:
- Swim 200m in under 6 minutes
- Swim 25m using sidestroke
- Swim 50m using breaststroke
- Pick up an object from the bottom of the pool – max depth: 5M
- Tread water for 5 minutes
To be successful in this position, you must hold or have previously held a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) and a first-aid certificate.

Starting rate: 28.95+/h (Our employer KiwiSaver contribution is in addition to the base salary offered.)
