He angitūtanga | The opportunity
As part of our Animal Management team, you will play a key role in keeping our communities safe by increasing dog registration and promoting responsible dog ownership.

This role is varied and community-facing, combining education, engagement and enforcement. You will proactively contact dog owners, run targeted campaigns and conduct field operations to ensure compliance. You will also support our annual dog registration renewal process, assist at community events, and take enforcement action when required under the Dog Control Act 1996.

Based in our Manukau office, you will spend time in the field and work collaboratively with your team to deliver positive outcomes for both Aucklanders and their dogs.

 

This is a Permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. This role is based in Manukau.


He kōrero mōu | About you

We are looking for someone who is confident working with people and dogs, with a strong sense of community responsibility. You will have experience in customer service or regulatory environments and be able to balance education with enforcement to achieve compliance.

You will also bring:

  • At least two years’ experience in customer service or regulatory/enforcement work
  • Minimum one year’s experience in a dog-related role, including handling aggressive dogs
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Dog Control Act 1996 and Animal Welfare Act 1999
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Cultural competency, with an ability to work effectively with Māori, Pasifika and diverse communities
  • A current and full NZ driver’s licence

Salary ranges from $65,000 – $77,000 per annum plus KiwiSaver and benefits.
