He angitūtanga: The opportunity
An opportunity has arisen to work as a Library & Council Service Assistant within the Manurewa – Papakura Local board area. This role is based at Manurewa Community Library, but all of our staff work flexibly across the local board areas.
Manurewa Community Library is a busy facility serving a diverse and vibrant community. Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community, and our environment. We are looking for a flexible all-rounder to join and contribute as part of a high-achieving, cohesive, and dynamic team. You will be supporting the team and contributing to the day-to-day running of the library. As this is a customer service role, you will be supporting customers from all walks of life.
We are open six days a week so flexibility around working days, including weekends, is required. This is a 20-hour per week, permanent opportunity currently working on Saturdays, Mondays (including one late night every four weeks) and Wednesdays.

You will have strong people skills, are flexible and adaptable to our library environment. You have a passion for customer service with a positive attitude towards serving people of all ages and backgrounds. You are eager to learn new skills and thrive in a busy work environment.
We are looking for a team member who:
- Is collaborative, creative and enthusiastic in planning, promoting and delivering events and programmes
- Understands and uses technology with confidence, able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices
- Has a strong people focused, and empathy driven work ethic. Along with a positive attitude, pride in their work and in the ability to influence others positively
- Is reliable, adaptable and fosters great relationships with the team and our community
- Can demonstrate experience working with a diverse range of people
- Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills with a strong people focus
- Demonstrates an understanding of Te Ao Māori values and principles
- Has a clean driver’s licence

Salary: $57,824-65k/a (depending on skills and experience)
