An opportunity has arisen to work as a Libraries & Council Service Assistant in the Manurewa-Papakura Local Board cluster.


This is a permanent part-time 38-hr per week position that includes late night Thursday & alternating Saturdays and based at Te Pātaka Kōrero o Waimāhia (Clendon Library). You will need to be flexible about where you work as you may be working across the Papakura/Manurewa Local Board libraries.

In this customer focused role, you will be contributing to the day to day running of the library and front-line library service. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues and customers to enable a great experience. We want to be known for our outstanding customer service. You will be working closely with our local community through a range of programmes, from children's activities and supporting and/or delivering exciting learning programmes and activities that are driven by community need. 

 

Our library whānau is focused on caring for each other, our community and our environment. We love collaborating with community partners and we welcome people from all walks of life.
 

We are looking for someone who will assist with whatever needs doing with a smile on their face and in their heart. You will play an active role in daily operations, ensuring patrons have an all-round excellent library experience.  Every day is different which is what makes it fun!

 We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Comfortable with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices
  • Experience working with tamariki and rangatahi
  • Willing to assist with the delivery and development of programmes and events
  • Flexibility and collaboration across all aspects of your mahi
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Knowledge/understanding of Te Ao Māori or willingness to learn
  • A second language is very desirable but not necessary
