Our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of getting Auckland to be the most active city in the world.
And right now, we’re looking for a Team Member who will be predominantly working in our Learn to Swim team to join our Pool and Leisure Centre teams across Auckland to help achieve that goal!
This is a fantastic job where you can gain a formal qualification teaching people the basic principles of how to swim, maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver fun, safe swimming lessons that suit each participant’s ability and needs.
- Track progress, record attendance and achievements, and keep programme records up to date.
- Communicate regularly and positively with caregivers, team leaders, and pool deck supervisors about participant progress.
- Keep the pool environment safe through active supervision, risk awareness, and following safety procedures.
We are currently looking for Learn to Swim Team Members who can work 6 or 10 hours a week.
You will be working Sundayfrom 8:45am onward & one or two weekdays (Monday - Thursday) from 3:15pm.
Please note our shifts are subject to change according to the roster and the needs of the centre, so flexibility is essential.

You’re a confident swimmer and instructor with a genuine love of the water and a passion for helping others learn and feel safe in aquatic environments. You bring exceptional customer service skills and communicate clearly and positively with members of the public, including children, caregivers, and whānau.
You’re motivated by making a difference and enjoy working with our diverse community, creating fun, inclusive, and supportive experiences for learners of all ages.
If you already hold a recognised swim teacher qualification or have previous experience as a swimming instructor, that’s fantastic.
However, if you don’t yet hold a swim‑teaching qualification, don’t worry — full, comprehensive training will be provided. Successful candidates must be available to attend mandatory training from 6 July to 17 July 2026 (Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm). The training location will be confirmed closer to the date.
Experience teaching infants, toddlers, and preschool‑aged children is strongly preferred.

Pay rate: $28.95+/h (Our employer KiwiSaver contribution is in addition to the base salary offered.)
