Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa Pool & Leisure Centre is offering a permanent opportunity for a passionate and experienced Learn to Swim Team Leader to join our vibrant aquatics team.
This role is central to delivering high-quality swim education and ensuring our programmes are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all participants.
As Team Leader, you’ll be actively involved in:
- Leading and mentoring a team of swim instructors
- Overseeing programming and lesson quality
- Supporting day-to-day operations, including teaching when needed
- Managing customer service and resolving issues on-site
- Collaborating with internal teams to deliver community-focused initiatives
You’ll also play a key role in health and safety leadership, staff development, and ensuring compliance with sector standards and Auckland Council policies.

You’re a confident leader with a strong background in swim instruction and a genuine passion for community wellbeing. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to creating positive experiences for both your team and our customers.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- A recognised swim teaching qualification (e.g. AUSTSWIM Licence)
- At least 2 years of experience teaching swimming across various age groups
- A current First Aid certificate
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Cultural competency and a willingness to engage with te ao Māori and diverse communities

This is an on-site position. You will be working 40 hours per week, rostered over 7 days.
The Swim School is a seven-day-per-week operation, while you will predominantly be working from Sunday to Thursday, flexibility and commitment to working weekdays, weekends and rostered hours are paramount.

Pay rate: starting $76K+
Our employer KiwiSaver contribution is in addition to the base salary offered.
This position is deemed a safety sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug testing.
