He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Join our highly motivated and capable Network Support Team and take advantage of an exciting hybrid opportunity to develop your leadership skills. As a valued member of our team, you'll have the chance to work as a lifeguard or a customer service representative.
As a Lifeguard (Network Support), your role will involve providing cover for planned leave and training sessions for our regular employees. You'll enjoy a variable schedule that allows you to work across different sites, supporting lifeguarding and customer support functions.
This is a fixed-term 32-hour lifeguard position (till Feb' 2024), working on a variable roster with fortnightly changes, your shifts are between 5AM and 10PM. Please note that at least one weekend day will be required as part of your schedule. This role will provide support and cover across multiple Leisure Centres including South Auckland (up to Manurewa), Howick, Pakuranga, Mangere, and Otara. There will be opportunities to become a permanent staff as well.

He kōrero mōu: About you
We're seeking individuals who are strong swimmers, and dedicated to helping others. As a lifeguard with Auckland Council, you'll need to pass the following test:
- Swim 200m freestyle in less than 6 minutes.
- Swim 50m breast stroke.
- Swim 25m side stroke
- Demonstrate the ability to duck, dive, and retrieve objects from the bottom of a 5m pool.
- Tread water for 5 minutes.
To become a lifeguard, you'll need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate and a First Aid certificate. Don't worry, if you're a suitable candidate, we'll provide you with the necessary training at no cost.
In addition to your swimming skills, we're looking for individuals with proven administration and communication skills, a track record of providing outstanding customer service, and excellent maturity and reliability. As you'll be working on a variable roster, a full driver's license and access to your own vehicle are required.
