Barking & Registration Team Leader

We're looking for a passionate and motivated leader to guide our Barking and Registration team. This role is all about building safer, more connected communities across Tāmaki Makaurau by improving dog registration compliance and resolving barking complaints. You’ll lead strategic projects, support your team’s growth, and make a real difference for animal management and community wellbeing.

 

This is a permanent full-time term role, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location Manukau Civic Building, 33 Manukau Station Road, Manukau City Centre.

You’re a natural leader who thrives on motivating teams and making a real difference in the community. With strong regulatory or compliance experience, you’re confident interpreting legislation and resolving complex issues. Your background shows a proven ability to manage performance, support your team’s development, and deliver outcomes aligned with organisational goals.

 

You have excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally. You're comfortable engaging with diverse communities and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You’re also data-savvy, using insights to inform planning, track progress, and improve service delivery.

 

A current and full New Zealand driver’s licence is essential, and experience in public-facing roles, especially in regulatory environments, will set you up for success. Most importantly, you're committed to fostering a culture of safety, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.

Salary ranges from $100,768 and $118,550 plus KiwiSaver and benefits.
