He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland's unique environment, with a diverse and growing population and an expansive play, park, sports and active recreation network, provides many opportunities for Aucklanders to be active, connect with nature and engage with our unique Māori identity.
As an Activation Advisor, your role provides a conduit between local boards and community play, sport and recreation & activation delivery partners.
You will design and monitor projects and programmes that get communities active and improve social cohesion to the many communities of Tāmaki Makaurau.
You will be a joining a highly engaged team of Activation Advisors, whose primary focus is programme design, management, marketing and monitoring of the local board funded regional Activation programme “Out and About Auckland – Tāmaki Makaurau”
This is a fixed term, full time opportunity for 12 months. Flexible & hybrid working is available for this role.

Amongst other tasks, day to day you will:
· Design, manage, and monitor community activation programmes that encourage play and active recreation.
· Collaborate with local boards and delivery partners to support community engagement and social cohesion.
· Promote events and activities using social media platforms like Facebook and Eventbrite.
· Build strong relationships with community organisations, leaders, and influencers.
· Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for stakeholders and elected members.
· Manage budgets, funding, and administrative tasks using Microsoft Office tools.

We're looking for a multi-tasking superstar with a passion for getting communities moving through play and active recreation. Some of the key skills/experience we will be looking for include:
· A tertiary qualification in a relevant field & minimum 3 years’ experience in community development, sport/recreation, or local government
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with Māori, Pasifika, and South Auckland communities.
· Confident using social media (e.g. Facebook, Eventbrite) for marketing and engagement
· Skilled in Microsoft Office tools—Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
· Experience managing budgets, projects, and preparing reports and presentations
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and contribute to a collaborative team environment
