Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. We strengthen and enrich our communities through art and ideas. We offer inspiring art experiences that engage and challenge diverse audiences. We have a collection of 18,000 artworks and a very active exhibition and loans program.  

We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing Senior Retail Assistant to join our gallery store based in the CBD. In this busy role, you will be part of our highly passionate and knowledgeable team, providing top-notch sales and customer service experiences. 

 

This role requires you to supervise staff and will include coaching and training staff and other administrative duties. This role is also responsible for forward planning staff resources with the Retail Operations Manager and ensuring the changing staff needs of the Gallery are met. You will also be offered the opportunity to upskill with ‘Future Leading With Influence’ workshops. 

 

This is a 10-month contract from December 2024 – October 2025.  

 

Full-time, working 40 hours Sunday to Thursday (9am-5:30pm).

He kōrero mōu: About you 

You must have proven supervisor and retail sales experience. Providing manaakitanga to both visitors and the retail team on a day-to-day basis requires adaptability, authenticity, and empathy. You will also have the ability to educate customers on our unique range of New-Zealand-made items, publications, and design products, as well as perform a range of other duties, including cash handling, visual merchandising, and assisting with stock deliveries.  

A background in the arts (education and/or work experience) is beneficial, however, not essential.

  • The salary range for this role is $59,000-$72,000k pre annum pro rata, based on skillset and experience.
