He angitūtanga: The opportunity

This role is all about leading through the complexities of workforce dynamics in a technology environment, offering insights into everything from resource forecasting and turnover to capability-building strategies and comprehensive reporting. A crucial aspect involves active engagement with key stakeholders across Auckland Council, ensuring a seamless alignment with both current and future work programs while keeping a keen eye on forecasting needs.

 

On the strategic front, the role dives into the development and operation of resource management models specifically tailored for ICT, all rooted in a forward-thinking workforce plan. This includes:

 

  • Collaborating with internal and external capability centres of excellence, constructing and maintaining a dynamic capability matrix based on anticipated workloads.
  • Lead in steering the ICT Graduate and Intern program, nurturing relationships with external tertiary providers to create a robust talent pipeline and unlock new opportunities within the department.

 

Beyond the strategic lens, the position also involves being a go-to expert on AOG and Council procurement policy, providing top-notch advice, and ensuring best practices are followed. Managing contracts for both near and offshore resourcing is part of the mix, along with adept vendor management for people-related procurement. In essence, it's a role that seamlessly weaves together strategic foresight, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence in the dynamic realm of workforce and procurement management.

He kōrero mōu: About you

The ideal candidate would need a strong background in workforce planning, a solid understanding of financial planning and modeling, development and delivery of executive-level reports/ presentations coupled with a nuanced understanding of diverse project management methodologies means navigating and managing strategic planning would be a breeze.

 

It is important to note that we are recruiting for an individual with extensive experience operating at a high capacity to drive outcomes aligned with strategic goals. As such below qualifications and attributes is what we look for in candidates:

 

  • A demonstrated comprehension of process management methodologies, underpinned by strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Possesses the invaluable ability to communicate complex information to a diverse audience, coupled with a talent for cultivating and sustaining relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Holds a Bachelor's level or a relevant management qualification, augmented by certifications in PMI/Prince 2/SAFe Agile.
  • At least 8-10 years of hands-on experience in workforce/resource planning within the ICT domain and an additional 8 years in consultancy, analysis, and program/portfolio management.
