He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

We have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager – Sustainability to join our Project Specialisation Office, within Community Facilities. You will lead project teams to deliver Auckland Council’s Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Programme and Water Efficiency Plan. These include projects to phase out gas boilers, increase renewable electricity generation and improve energy and water efficiency over a diverse range of assets.

 

These projects will help Auckland Council achieve goals of reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions from Council Operations by 50% by 2030 (and to net zero by 2050) and potable water use by 30% by 2030

 

You will be responsible for end-to-end project management and delivery, as well as maintaining effective relationships with business owners, customers, and project stakeholders. You will also provide coaching, mentoring and technical advice to our project managers across the region.

You will be well organised with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, being savvy to deal with ambiguity while making quality decisions in a dynamic challenging environment. It should go without saying that you have the agility to work cross-functionally across the unit and other departments while managing several diverse projects at the same time.

 

Alongside a collaborative nature and solid relationship management skills, you’ll bring a clear customer service ethic as well as a sense of personal ownership and responsibility.

 

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have significant experience in capital works project delivery (including renewals projects) with a focus on sustainable outcomes, leading multiple project teams responsible for significant and complex budgets (of a value up to $20 million), from programme business case development through to construction site monitoring and asset handover.

 

Ideally, you will have experience in renewable energy, and energy and water efficiency technologies, or, as a minimum, experience with HVAC or mechanical and electrical systems more broadly.
