Our Corporate Support Services department has an exciting opportunity for a Security Learning and Development Advisor to join our dynamic Security Team.In this role, you will support the safety, security and wellbeing of our people and the wider Auckland community by leading the development and delivery of training programmes that elevate skills, strengthen our security culture and enhance the readiness of our customer-facing and front-line teams.You will take the lead in designing innovative and engaging learning solutions — from interactive workshops to digital content — and ensure our teams are consistently equipped with the latest security knowledge and best practices. This is a key role that directly supports the safety of our staff and customers across Auckland Council facilities.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You are an experienced Learning and Development professional with strong capability in designing and delivering impactful training programmes. You have a sound understanding of security principles, and may bring additional experience gained in law enforcement or a similar field.You’re highly organised and skilled in programme and project management, with a track record of creating engaging and innovative learning content. You are confident facilitating both in-person and online learning and adept at tailoring your approach to meet a wide variety of training needs.You are passionate about continuous improvement and have the analytical skills to measure the effectiveness of training, using feedback and performance metrics to enhance outcomes. You keep pace with emerging trends in both learning and physical security, and are motivated to ensure your programmes reflect current best practice.Your strong communication and collaboration skills allow you to work effectively with security leadership, asset and function leads, and other key stakeholders. You are also comfortable navigating a large and complex organisation and can build strong relationships across diverse teams.
Key capabilities you will bring:
- Strong knowledge of learning and development practices, methodologies and toolsAbility to create high-quality, engaging training content across multiple formats (online, video, workshops, in-person delivery)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to convey complex topics clearly and succinctlyStrong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Learning and Development teams and business stakeholders
- Experience in continuous improvement of learning programmes and training evaluationUp-to-date knowledge of physical security trends, tools and practices (preferred but not essential)
- A bachelor's degree in Learning and Development or a related discipline
- 3–5 years’ relevant industry experience in a Learning and Development role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- A current and full New Zealand driver’s licence.
