He angitūtanga: The opportunity
This 9 month Fixed Term - Full time Park Ranger will primarily be based at Muriwai and Te Rau Puriri Regional Parks, with the potential to support operations across the wider Western sector, including the Waitākere Ranges.
Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities
This role involves a variety of hands-on and people-focused tasks. You’ll be responsible for supporting volunteers and external stakeholders, liaising with visitors at campgrounds and arrival areas, and performing general park maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting with farming operations where required
- Overseeing and auditing contractors
- Supporting historic site protection programmes
- Conducting and overseeing recreational asset maintenance and inspections

Renumeration for the role is between $64k - $66k depending on experience and skillset.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about working with volunteers, iwi, community groups, and park visitors
- Has sound practical experience and the ability to carry out minor repairs
- Holds a current NZ full driver’s licence and can drive a manual vehicle
- Experience in farming operations and the ability to assist with the day-to-day running of the regional park farm space would be advantageous
Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and on-call shifts as part of a 1- in - 3 rotating roster is required.
