He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Group Shared Services (GSS) department is focused on delivering high-quality digital products and services that support Aucklanders every day.

We are seeking multiple experienced Product Owners to join our team, with opportunities across Salesforce, security products and/or security engineering, and other digital services. In these roles, you will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of digital products across a range of technology value streams, making a meaningful impact across Council’s technology portfolio and the communities we serve.

In this role, you will work closely with a Product Manager to translate strategic priorities into clear, prioritised work for delivery teams. You will balance business needs, user outcomes, and technical considerations to ensure value is delivered iteratively and effectively in a large, complex environment.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You are an experienced Product Owner with a background in Salesforce and/or security engineering, who is comfortable operating in complex environments and working across a wide range of stakeholders.

You bring a strong understanding of digital product delivery and are confident contributing to service improvements and transformation initiatives. You are able to connect strategy to delivery and support the development of business cases where required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within digital or technology environments
  • Experience in the public sector or in community-focused services is highly desirable
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into prioritised backlogs and clear user stories
  • Experience working across multiple systems or platforms; Salesforce and security engineering experience is highly desirable
  • A user-centred mindset, with experience engaging stakeholders, frontline users, and/or community groups
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • A solid understanding of Agile delivery practices, including backlog management, roadmaps, and iterative delivery

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement listed. What matters most is your ability to contribute to a collaborative, purpose-driven environment where diverse experiences are valued. We recognise that transferable skills can come from experience gained outside of work.
