Our Infrastructure and Environmental Services division has an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality and Land Advisor to join us in the Lifecycle Management team. 


As our Principal Specialist you will be tasked to deliver stormwater and water quality solutions with community buy in. This will involve educating the agricultural community, ensuring members understand the purpose and importance of implementing conservation practices that protect and enhance our soil and water resources.  


You can also expect to work on:

  • Scoping and delivering a range of water quality improvement projects in partnership with communities, 
  • Promoting and administering farm management of water and soil resources,
  • Champion a long-term strategic approach to local board projects that address water quality issues at a catchment scale, and deliver projects funded by these boards, 
  • Increasing communities’ awareness and understanding of water quality issues through developing and managing regional environmental programmes, such as the Wai Care Programme.


He kōrero mōu: About you


This position requires a strong technical ability to deliver complex water quality and stormwater infrastructure projects. You will have an applied understanding of water quality issues and associated remedial interventions, as well as knowledge of land management practices. 


You will additionally need to have effective project management leadership and an ability to consult with an influence stakeholders. 


We will also be looking for experience with:

  • Managing landholder grants programmes and delivery systems - preferably with financial and farm plan auditing capability,
  • Engagement with key stakeholder including Iwi, landowners, Local Boards, Central Government, community and industry,
  • Understanding legislator requirements imposed on land,
  • Proven partnership with key stakeholders in the Ag-sector will be highly advantageous.
