Join a well-established, supportive team of passionate professionals within Auckland Council's Information Communications and Technology Services (ICT) department. 

The Principal API Developer leads, coaches and supports these teams to leverage the API platform to increase reuse and improve speed of delivery to our customers. The API C4E team leads the establishment of API capabilities across all development teams in ICT service verticals. You will also ensure the data and assets of Auckland Council that are exposed via the APIs are protected.

In this role you will ensure API source code meets high quality standards and promotes the continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) principles across ICT. Provide source code reviews and be responsible for promoting API code practice.


He kōrero mōu: About you


The ideal candidate for this role should have 10+ years’ experience working in software development and integration. 5+ years of that experience specifically in Mulesoft and/or any other API Management platform. Since the ideal candidate will be involved in evangelizing the use of APIs and API-Led Architecture, proven commercial experience leading and coaching a technical team is a must. A broad range of experience in developing different types of APIs using API-Led Architecture, Micro services or event-based architecture.

You should possess good knowledge of operational monitoring or application lifecycle management tools like Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic, AppDynamics and Splunk. Proven experience in developing CICD toolset within Mulesoft and a working knowledge of Cloud platforms, features and capabilities including virtualised & container-based environments. Knowledge of core SAP development frameworks – SapScript, Smartforms, Adobe Forms, BRFplus, ODATA, Sound programming knowledge and experience using SAP ABAP, SAP ABAP Object Orientated Design, JavaScript, HTML5, JSON and XML is highly desirable.

You will be leading and participate in design and development of APIs, using Mulesoft, and projects across multiple ICT and business domains so project lifecycle experience for API Management projects is beneficial alongside experience in designing and implementing continuous delivery practices.
