He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We are driven to enable our communities to access heritage, research services and taonga tuku iho to inspire and connect whānau Māori. The Poukōkiri Whakaaturanga Taonga role facilitates this mahi and seeks to develop community understanding, connection, and sense of identity by guiding people to effectively access Māori taonga tuku iho within the heritage collections.

This unique opportunity is a role that allows one to engage with some of the most significant historical Taonga to Aotearoa. An opportunity to add to the meaning of how these Taonga are cared for and how they might find awareness and accessibility in our communities.   

You will possess a broad understanding of mātauranga Māori and work collaboratively with other kaimahi to promote a dynamic understanding of taonga Māori and mātauranga Māori held within the Heritage Collections.  You will actively engage with Iwi/hapu Māori, Māori Communities and Whānau Māori to create opportunities for collaboration that is new, innovative and offer fresh interpretations that uplift the mauri of these items.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will be well grounded in te reo Māori and tīkanga Māori and have experience in creative and collaborative relationships. Your knowledge and experience will support communities to deepen their knowledge of and access to mātauranga Māori.

You will be driven to engage and foster collaboration with Māori Communities, iwi/hapu and Whānau Māori. 

You will be motivated to make a significant contribution to growing awareness of taonga tuku iho and Māori heritage.

You will also enjoy the opportunity to drive customer experience at a strategic level within the heritage environment, and will understand and draw on the following attributes to be successful:
