He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Situated at our Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre, no two days will be the same in this Team Member role. You’ll play an important part in delivering fun, inclusive, and engaging programmes for our local community. This includes supporting and delivering Baby & Toddler Gymnastics and Pedal & Play sessions, where you’ll help create positive, active experiences for our tamariki and whānau.

Alongside this, you’ll be involved in delivering school holiday programmes, supporting a wide range of recreational and sporting activities, and assisting with scheduled programmes across the centre. A key aspect of this role includes refereeing and umpiring netball and basketball games, helping to ensure these sessions run smoothly, safely, and enjoyably for all participants. Previous refereeing and umpiring experience is required for this role.

Every day brings something different, making this a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with children, supporting community wellbeing, and contributing to a lively leisure centre environment.

This is a 6.5-hr permanent part-time role. Shifts below:

  • Thursday Baby & Toddler Gymnastics (9am – 12.30pm)
  • Friday Pedal and Play (9am - 12pm)

You demonstrate a responsible, caring, and safety-focused approach when working with children, along with the flexibility and initiative to support the delivery of engaging and age-appropriate programmes.

You will also bring:

  • A positive attitude and infectious energy as an enthusiastic team player
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for every customer
  • The flexibility and initiative to support a range of programmes and activities
  • A professional, reliable, and customer-focused approach to your work

Ideally, you will:

  • Have previous refereeing and umpiring experience
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate and have an understanding of health and safety procedures (training provided)
  • Have experience working with children; preschool or gymnastics teaching experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism at all times
