Recreation Team Member | Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre 

 

Birkenhead Pool and Leisure Centre is one of New Zealand’s leading Sports and Rec Facilities, as Recreation Team Member, you will play a key part to improve the customer experience for all Aucklanders that visit our Centre to another level. You will help us deliver an exciting range of community fitness and school holiday programmes. This role will see you working with school students and community groups across the Auckland region. 


In this frontline role, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Delivering exceptional customer service to our customers and visitors 
  • Supporting with the delivery of a variety of exciting programmes for children aged 5-12
  • Helping the centre maintain a caring, fun, and safe fitness and leisure environment
  • Helping centre management with administration and operational duties
  • Supporting with centre activities including sporting leagues and daily timetabled programmes 
  • Rock Wall Supervision and Holiday Programme Supervision  

 

This is a permanent part-time position of 8 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours.

Work shift: Tuesday 12:45pm – 9:15pm

You’ll bring a genuine passion for sport and recreation and be excited to step into a frontline role within a busy leisure centre environment. You demonstrate a responsible, caring, and safety‑focused approach when working with children, along with the flexibility and initiative to support the delivery of engaging and age‑appropriate programmes.

 

You will also bring:

  • A positive attitude and infectious energy as an enthusiastic team player
  • A strong customer service mindset, with a focus on creating welcoming experiences
  • The flexibility and initiative to support a wide range of programmes and daily timetabled activities
  • A professional, reliable, and customer‑focused approach to your work
  • Confidence supporting centre operations, including administrative and operational tasks
  • The ability to assist with activities such as rock wall supervision , holiday programmes, and general centre supervision

 

Ideally, you will:

  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate and have an understanding of health and safety procedures (training provided)
  • Be comfortable supporting activities such as holiday programmes, sporting leagues, and Rock Wall supervision
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism at all times
