Team Member | Learn To Swim - Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre

Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal of getting Auckland to be the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for part-time Learn to Swim Instructor to join our Pool and Leisure Centre teams across Auckland to help achieve that goal! 

Based at Stanmore Bay Pool and Leisure Centre, this is a fantastic job where you can gain a formal qualification teaching people the basic principles of how to swim, maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors - we'll provide the training you need to succeed in the role. Experience in teaching infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children, and adults is strongly preferred. 


  Day-to-day you could expect to work on:  

  • Teaching people the basic principles of how to swim (we'll teach you how to do this!) 

  • Maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitors 

  • Being part of an amazing team serving your local community 

 

This is a Permanent Part-time position. We would love to hear from those who can work 7.5 hours per week.

The shifts are below:   

  • Tuesday 3:34pm – 6:45pm 

  • Saturday 8:15am – 12:30pm  

  

He kōrero mōu: About you 

 

You will be a great swimmer and instructor, have a love of water, have exceptional customer service skills, and be able to communicate well with members of the public. 
Previous experience working with children would be beneficial.
 
If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that’d be fantastic. However, we will provide full, comprehensive training that you need to excel in the job. Training will take place September 22nd - October 3rd. 
 
To be considered for this role, you must also be willing to complete First Aid training.

 

Our successful candidate will be comfortable in the water and be able to:

  • Swim 20 metres freestyle
  • 20 metres backstroke
  • Tread water for 3 minutes

Pay rate: Starting rate $28.95 /hr (Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered. )
