He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our pool and leisure facilities are more popular than ever, and as a Lifeguard for Glenfield Aquatics Centre, you will play a key part in ensuring that all customers have an enjoyable but safe experience.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing to all pool users with quality supervision to ensure health and safety standards are upheld;
- Providing customers and colleagues with accurate information on pool policies, Centre facilities, and aquatic safety; and
- Supporting the delivery of Centre programmes and classes.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You’ll already have a love for aquatics and be committed to supporting community safety and wellbeing. Previous experience as a Lifeguard is advantageous, but if you’re a confident swimmer looking to upskill, we can support you with training. Having clear and effective communication skills is key, as is being practically minded and using your initiative where required.
Ideally, you hold a current First Aid Certificate as well as a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate, however, we can also support you with training to help you obtain these. The centre operates 7 days a week, so reliability and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts are crucial.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
In this challenging and rewarding role, you'll be joining a team of energetic individuals who are passionate about promoting healthy living and making a difference in our local community. We can provide you with plenty of opportunities to upskill, including training in leadership, and the opportunity to be trained in different functions like swim school, fitness, recreation, and customer service.
In addition to our Auckland Council benefits, as a Leisure Centre employee, you will enjoy free use of the facilities.
We currently have one full-time position working across a variable roster.
Shifts will be Sunday – Thurs and alternate every 2 weeks between 5am – 1.30pm and 1.30pm – 10pm.
Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. As such applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing employment.
- This position is deemed a safety sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug testing.
- Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory police check.
