He angitūtanga: The opportunity 


Auckland’s Regional Parks play a fundamental role in preserving our unique and iconic landscapes across the region. Receiving up to 6 million visits a year, they are home to many rare and threatened ecosystems and native species.  


This year we are on the hunt for 8 Northern Summer Rangers for either 3 or 4 months, who will be based at; Long Bay, Shakespear, Tāwharanui, Wenderholm, Mahurangi West, Te Arai Regional Park or one of our other wonderful parks as needed. Our Summer Park Rangers are a key part in facilitating safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences while conserving and protecting cultural, natural, and heritage resources.


He kōrero mōu: About you


If you are interested in gaining real-world experience in the fields of conservation, environmental management, ecology, cultural and NZ heritage, tourism, landscaping, horticulture, recreation, outdoor education or agriculture, we want to hear from you!


Based at one of our Regional Parks located within the Auckland Region, the rangers will assist with customer service, conservation, bylaw control and maintenance of the parks across the network. You will be provided with basic accommodation however you will need to cover your travel expenses. Preference will be given to applicants who have a clean and full NZ driver’s licence.


Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer


These positions will work full-time from either 13th November 2024 until 14th February 2025 or 13th November 2024 – 14th March 2025.  It will include working on a roster covering all weekends and public holidays over the contract, including the Christmas and New Year period. You will need to be available to attend a mandatory training camp from 18th November 2024 – 22nd November 2024 at Atiu Creek Regional Park.

 

This role pays a living wage of $27.80 per hour.
