He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Kia Ora, Arataki Visitor Centre is looking for a friendly and motivated Visitor Services Representative to deliver an exceptional visitation experience to our visitors. 

As part of the team, you will be involved in assisting visitors with track information along with helping with activities, crafts, events and school holiday programmes.  The Arataki Visitor Centre is a 364 day business. This role is on a fixed Friday to Tuesday shift each week which involves working each weekend and any associated public holidays.   

It’s your challenge to offer exceptional manaakitanga. You will provide visitors with a wide variety of information on all Auckland Council Regional Parks, focusing primarily on the Waitakere Ranges - where to go, what to see. You will also take bookings for activities, community groups and general enquiries - as well as assisting visitors in the retail store. Of equal importance is your ability to help drive positive engagement with our local community.

This role will also help shape the Visitor Centre’s new interactive visitor experience initiative and forms part of our amazing Summer program.


He kōrero mōu: About you

Your background would include customer service, which may have been gained in the Tourism, Hospitality, Events or other Service industries. You’ll be a great team player, and will be able to demonstrate:


  • Real passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • An ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Computer literacy – MS Office applications 
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence 
  • Knowledge of Te Reo would be advantageous

The Arataki Visitor Centre is a popular location for tourists and locals alike. We are a passionate team that delivers great customer service and produce community focused events while providing a supportive work environment. 


This position is on a fixed term basis from 16 November 2022 to 15 February 2023, and is 40 hours per week.

 This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children.  This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. As such applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing
