A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Kaipātiki Local Board libraries as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant at Birkenhead Library. This role focuses on the needs of our diverse communities to develop programmes and services which will enable our migrant and other marginalised communities to thrive. You will have a passion for making a difference in the library and have a strong, people-focused and empathy-driven work ethic.


This is a permanent 30-hour position. The role requires flexibility to work across the Kaipātiki Local Board.


We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the ability to:

•             Build and maintain relationships with local migrant, diverse and marginalised communities

•             Support diverse community needs and engage under-served parts of the local communities to
               increase participation and use of libraries

•             Develop and deliver programmes and events in response to our diverse community needs and identify
              service gaps and improvement opportunities

•             Work collaboratively with teams in the Kaipātiki Local Board, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise

•             Provide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources,
                navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues

•             Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats
